I have a Honda Amaze diesel, which I want to replace with a new compact/midsize SUV. My budget is between Rs 14 lakh-18 lakh, and we’re a family of four. I drive around 1,500km per month on average, except for holidays. My priorities are value for money, safety, design, power, fuel efficiency and features.

Autocar India says: Given your running of around 1,500km a month, it’s best you go in for a diesel SUV that will be easy on your pocket. However, the number of diesel SUV models is dwindling and there is little choice. Your best bet would be to go in for the tried-and-tested Creta diesel, and if that does not fit your budget, the XUV300 with its refined and strong 1.5 diesel is the next best option. It’s just that the XUV300 has a small boot, so you might be short on luggage space if you go on holiday with your family.
